Press release

FAMONDO, the card game where you build the wildest family in the world, opens pre-orders

FAMONDO is a family card game in which each player lays out the five continents to build their own family: a parent, a child, an animal, gathered from the four corners of the world. It comes in two forms that answer each other — a box of 65 illustrated cards, printed in France, and a free mobile app that carries the game on, solo against the AI or online against the whole world. Pre-orders for the physical edition have been open since September 1, 2026, at a launch price of 9,90 €.

A rule you explain in a minute, a game that lasts five

Each player draws a card, then lays a continent card face up in front of them. The first to line up all five continents — the Americas, Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania — including at least one Parent, one Child and one Animal shouts “FAMONDO!” and wins the game. Fifteen Special cards keep upsetting that balance: the Broom sweeps an opponent's card into the discard pile, the Alarm Failure costs them a turn, the Umbrella protects, the Adoption rescues an incomplete family. Cards are identified by their illustration and by their continent colour, so reading is not required — a six-year-old plays on equal terms with an adult. A simplified version, without the Special cards, is there for younger players.

An app that is not a port

The FAMONDO app, free on iOS and Android, is not a trial version of the card game: it is a complete game, available in six languages. In solo play, you travel through fifty locations spread across the five continents and face AI opponents, each with a style of their own. Online, you take on real players in a weekly Sprint and a monthly Season, with live leaderboards. Every game earns collectible cards — landmarks and culinary specialities from around the world — that exist only in the app. Both forms of the game share the same rules and the same illustrations: learn one and you already know how to play the other.

Written, drawn, coded and manufactured end to end

FAMONDO is self-published. One person, Franck Petretto, wrote the rules, art-directed the fifty-four illustrations, built the mobile app and its game server, then ran the manufacturing. The illustrations were produced with generative AI tools, from detailed art direction written for each one — framing, palette, setting, attitude — then assembled and retouched; the studio would rather claim that method than hide it. The physical edition is printed and finished in France, at Printemps Europe. There was no crowdfunding campaign: the game is sold as a direct pre-order on famondo.com, at 9,90 € instead of the 14,90 € planned after launch.

The characters

Milo and Moli

They were born from a card in the game — the Broom, the only card tied to no continent, and therefore the only one that could stand for all five. Straw head, red jacket, backpack covered in travel stamps: Milo greets players in their very first game in the app, Moli walks them through online play.

Terms of use for these assets

These assets are provided for editorial use. No prior permission is needed to publish them in that context.

What you may do

  • Publish these assets in an article, a review, a report, a video or a post about FAMONDO.
  • Crop and resize them to fit your layout — except the logo, which must stay intact.
  • Quote the factsheet and the press release word for word, without telling us first.
  • Use the teaser in full or in excerpts in a piece devoted to the game.

What is not allowed

  • Modifying, recolouring, redrawing or recomposing the logo: it is a registered figurative trade mark, and its protected representation is exactly the file supplied.
  • Adding the ® symbol inside the logo image — it sits beside the mark, never within it.
  • Using these assets for merchandising, spin-off products or advertising without written agreement.
  • Feeding them into a training set for an image-generation model.

Illustrations and generative AI

The fifty-four card illustrations and the mascot artwork were produced with generative AI tools, from art direction written for each image, then assembled and retouched. We state it here so you can mention it in your piece if you find it relevant.
